[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Mat 15. The Government has been asked by the Conciliation Board that the Crown law officers may advise the Board as to proceeding with business, pending an action instituted in the Supreme Court to unseat one of its members. The Government has now replied that the law officers cannot advise any body having judicial functions, as if advice wore permitted in this instance all other bodies would be equally entitled to a similar privilege. It is , understood that the Government will introduC3 a Bill dealing with Justices of the Peace, •in which provision will be made for subdividing the .colony into districts, and electing Justices to have jurisdiction in those districts. Mr C. A. Ewen has resigned the position of manager of the Bank of New Zealand at New Plymouth, in order to take up the position of manager of the Wellington branch of tho New! Zealand Insurance' Company, vice Mr J. C. Hanna, who has been appointed tho inspector of the company. . '
