BIENNIAL DEMONSTRATION. Third Day. The biennial demonstration of the United Fire Brigades' Association was concluded at Lancaster Park to-day. The weather was Bhowery. The following are reaalts of the various events :— HOSE, HYDBANT AND UNION COMPETITION FOB FIVE MEN.— Five men to run 10 yards, pick up four 50-feet properly strapped coiled wet hose, hydrant union and two branches, all to be detached and lying flat on the ground, run 25 yards to plug, fix hydrant, connect one lead of two 50-feet pose, fix union, connect SO feet hose to each delivery of union, fix branches, and with both waters strike disc about 10 feet from ground. Prizes— l, £10 ; 2, £5 ; 3, £2 10s. Napier , ... . 1 Spifc 2 Ashburton ... ... .3 250 yds FLAT. FINAL HEAT. ' New Plymouth • ... ■. 1 Greymouth ... ,„ 2 Woipawa ... 3 BICYCLE, HOSE AND HYDBANT COMPETITION FOB TWO MEN.— Two men to run 10 yards to bicycles, mount and ride 100 yards ; dismount, pick up 50 feet wet canvas hose, coiled and strapped hydrant and branch. Mount and ride half-mile to plug; dismount, fix hydrant, connect and run out hose, fix branch, and with water strike disc 10 feet from ground. Men to be dressed in full working uniform. Prizes— l, £6 and trophy presented by Mr F. Arenas : 2, £3; 3, fllOs. Christchurch ... ... 1 . Hastings 2 Waipawa... 3 COUPLING PRACTICE FOB TWO MEN.— Two men to run 25 yards to plug, fix hydrant, connect 50 feet hose to each delivery pf hydrant, connect union to each 50 feet, then 50 feet to each delivery of union, fix four branches and return to starting point; Hydrant to be laid alongside plug ; hose, &c.j laid out. One delivery of hydrant, and each union to be capped. Time from start to last man returning to the starting point. Prizes— l, M and trophy presented by Mr G. T. "White ; 2, £2 j 3, £1. Napier ... , 1 Christchurch 2 Bpit ... 3 The protests lodged yesterday against Christchurch arid Kumara in various events were dismissed. . The Challenge Shield presented by Messrs Shand, Mason and Co., London, to the officer of the brigade gaining the greatest number of points, was awarded to Superintendent E. Smith, of the Christchurch Brigade, which scored 15 points. The Aahburton Brigade was second with 13 points, Napier third with 11 points, Hastings fourth with 8 points and Spit fifth with 7 points: The prize-money won by each brigade was as follows :— Christchurch .£3B, Ashburton £27 105, Napier .£2l los, Invercargill £20, New Plymouth £18, Hastings .£l6 los, Spit£lo ss> Eangiora £10, Caversham £10, Gisborne £7 10s, Kumara £6, Waipawa £4, Gteymouth,, £3 ss, Wanganui .£2 lQf,
