— * [Special to Press Association."; SYDNEY, Feb. 24. By a fire at Deniliquin, six business premises were destroyed and damage was done to the extent of many thousands. The brigade, presumably because they had not been paid for some time past, refused to turn out, and two hours elapsed before an amateur set of\ firemen could get the plant together. [Per Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 25. A four-roomed cottage at Inglewood, • owned by Mr Carsens and occupied by Mr Wooller, was burnt shortly after midnight. The insurance has not been ascertained. DUNEDIN, Feb. 25. An eight-roomed wooden-house in Leith Street^ was destroyed by fire early this morning, the inmates barely escaping with their ,lives. The house was owned by D. M'Ewan and insured in the Norwich Union Office. James Robertson, the occupant, was uninsured.
