OBITUARY.
AMBBOISE THOMAS. [Special to Pbesb Association.] _ . t , PARIS, Feb. 12. The death is announced of 0. L. Ambroiae Thomas, a prominent muweal composer, and a member of the Order of the Legion of Honour. [Charles Louis Ambroise Thomas, the son of a distinguished professor of music, was born at Metz in 1811. He composed a number of works, was elected a member of the Academic des Beaux Arts in succession to Spontini in 1851, was appointed Offlcier d' Instruction Publique in 1869, and replaced Auber as director of the Conservatoire de Musiquein 1871.]
