A REMARKABLE BRIDGE

Some "considerable distance" south of Auckland, and "quite a large number" of miles north of Wellington stands a bridge. It ia entitled to be called a remarkable bridge. It is on the direct road to, and t>nly a short distance from, Ngowhereinpatikura. When it was discovered, by a party of Natives, the leader of the party exclaimed "Honiaikaraiki!" And, after many years, it is still called by the Native "Watapiti."

And so it is 'a pi£y ! No doubt a reason was given for its construction at the time, and the men who were instrumental in devoting public money to such works would look well gibbeted in chains on the same bridge, the only, drawback being that no one would see them.

The same amount of money, nay, half that sum invested in Vanity Fair Cigarettes • would bring happiness and enjoyment to our adult male population.
