FIRE.
■ [Peb Pbbss Association], WELLINGTON, Dko. 1. A fire broke out last night about eleven o'clock in .premises in the block at the * southern end of Willis Street, which contains Barrett's Hotel and other buildings. Toe fire originated in the upstairs portion :of Lawson'a auotion mart (formerly Bodley's refreshment room), and damage to the extent of about jszoo was done to the building. Goods worth £100 were destroyed, but the furniture in the auction room was caved, though damaged by •water. The loss on goods is estimated at £250, but is partly covered by insurance. Mr Plimmer has a line of on the buildings, distributed over variooa offices.
