Delated Tbain.— The engine drawing the north train on Saturday night was completely disabled while shunting at the Rangiora station through one of the boiler tubes starting to leak badly. An engine had to be procured from Chriatchuroh to take on the train, and the delay extended over two hoars. Rangioba High ScHooL.—On Saturday a pionio, organised by the Rev and Mrs G. J. Sim, was given to the pupils of the Rangiora High School. The parents of the pupils and also the members of the Board of Governors were invited. The party, numbering about seventy, were driven in 4raga and other conveyances to Hills's Buob, on the Grey River, where a most pjeasaofc day wbb spent, the weather being beautif.uliy fine. EA£AiA,»»A very successful entertainment was held in the Town Hall on Friday night in &id oS. the funds of the Presbyterian Sunday ffahocil. The audience was £ )arge and apbreciajliUra one. Mr W. Grubb, Hardy and Thompson, and Messrs Austin, Malcolm andß. Sharp. Mr M'Candlish, gBY? ft recitation. Mr C. i Tucker w&b in the chair. Tbmpleton School. — The adjourned meeting of the Terapleton School Committee was held on Monday evening ; present— Messrs G. P. Eissell (chairman), W. Bailey, C. Benjamin, G. W. Lucock, G. Witty and C. Voice. The Chairman stated that he had not been able to make satisfactory train arrangements to Otaranoa, : and after discussion, it w&b decided to take the school children to Governor's Bay for their annual picnic on Dec, 27. Messra W. Bailey and C. Benjamin were appointed to make arrangements for the train and Bteamer. Tai Tapu.— The annual reunion of the Tai Tapu school children was held on Thursday last. The children and their parents and friends assembled at tho show grounds, and were thence convened in four tram cars to Sumner to the number of two hundred and fifty. Games, &c, were indulged in, and refreshments were provided on a bountiful scale. Votes of thanks and sheers were given to the Chairman and School Committee. A start for home was then made, everyone expressing pleasure at the outing.
