Prohibition League.— The usual weekly meeting of tho Prohibition League was held laat evening. The Eev J. Dawson occupied the chair at the commencement of the meeting, and later the Eev F. W. Isitt. The Alliance News' report of the Eev L. M. leitt'e firat mission in England waa read, and the meeting expressed its gratification at the results which bad attended the mission, and also assured the reverend gentleman of its continued interest in his work. It was resolved to congratulate the. re»idents of Newtown (Wellington) on tho Buccess which waß attending their efforts to prevent the transfer of a license from the city to that suburb. Mr Isitt gave a report of meetings held recently in Timaru and elsewhere, and the League expressed its satisfaction at the fact that the prohibition question waß a "live" one in these districts.
