The Bank of England returns, published to-day, show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £33,908,000, the proportion of reserve to liability being 59*32 per cent. Three months' bills ate discounted at 1* per cent. Consols 107. V New South Wales 4 per cent inscribed stock, 115* ; 3. do, 105. Viotoria, -H do, 109|; 3_ do, 103. South Australia, 4 do, 110* ; 3. do, 104*. Tasmania, 3. do, 106. Western Australia, 4 do, 123*. New Zealand, 4 db, 109. ; 3 do, 103*. New Zealand long-berried wheat nominal. South Australian do, 28s, market restricted. Victorian do, 28s 3d, market flat. . ' New Zealand mutton, first quality, 4*d ; second quality, 3|d. Hemp, market flat. None was sold at yesterday's sales. Sugar — Best German beet, 10a 3d • Java 12s 3d, steady. No. 1 besb Scotch pig iron f.o.b. in Clyde 46s lOd, flat. Butter— Colonial, 100s to 1063. Victorian peas, 275. Silver, 2s 6d and eleven-sixteentha of a penny. The Eakaia'e shipment o£ chilled meat, is virtually unsaleable. A few of the carcases brought Is 8d ; muoh of the meat was tainted, and a portion was condemned.
