The Lancaster Park Amateur Swimming Club held its first race (50yds) last evening. «The following are the resultB :— First heat : W. Jamieson 133 ec, 1 ; N. M'Dowell llboo, 2. Won by three yards. Time — SOisec. Second heat : E. Stevens Bsec, 1; W. Calder llsec, 2. Won easily. Time— 51f sec. Third heat : W. Baxter • sseo, 1 j A. Duncan Ber, 2. Won by two yards. Time— 44£sec. Final heat: E. Stevens Baeo, 1 ; W. Jamieson 13sec, 2.' Won by one yard. Time — 44§sec. There was a fair number of spectators present. Mr J. L. Carl acted as starter.
A meeting of the committee of the Sydenham Swimming Ciub was held on Nov. 26. A preliminary programme was drawn up for the annual sports day, including a 60yds inter-club race, turning competition, royal mail ' race and water polo match. Several new members were elected.
