Tex Citt Mayoralty. — Nominations for the mayoralty of the city of Chriatohurch clobo on Nov. 18, and the election takes place on Nov. 27. The present , candidates for the office are Mr Wi fi.' * Cooper (the present mayor) and Councillor H. T. Widdowson. ; Japanese and Fanct Faib.— The Japanese and Fanoy Fair promoted by the Durham Street Wesleyan Church, and held in the Art Gallery, waß well attended yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance in the evening, and the beautiful floral displays sent in for the Table Decoration Competition were universally admired. Misß E. Packer and Master Harris played violin solos, Miss Gray jind the Rev A. Mitchell sang songs, and Maßters F. and A. Greig gave recitations. Mr B. T. Searell acted as accompanist. A number of tableaux were given under the direction of Misß Eitchingman. The fair will be open to-day, and in the evening a number of limelight views will be shown by Mr C. S. Gill, jun.
