Sefton Dairy Association.

■ '■ — . • ' — — ■ ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of shareholders of the Sefton Mutual Dairy Produce Association was held last evening in tbe Town Hall, Sefton, a large number of shareholders being present. The, report and balance-sheet were adopted, though exception was taken by some shareholders to no dividend being paid. The report was as follows : — . ■It is with much pleasure that your directors submit this tne seventh annual report and balance-sheet of the Association for your acceptance. Within the past year the company has been successful in a Supreme Court case with Mr D. Boyer. This case threatened the very existence of the company, and, though 'successful, entailed a large amount of expense. During the period under review from Augußt 1,1894, to August 1, 1895, there have been received ; at the factory, from thirty-Beven milk suppliers, 2,004,5141 bof milk. From Buch milk 82,3651 bof butter have been manufactured, showing that it had required an average of 24 331 bof milk to produce lib of butter. Of the above amount of butter 34,8321 b were sold to H. Simms and Sons at Bjd per Ib, while for thß local markets the prices ranged fromߣd to Is 3d per lb. Your directors feel assured that the £2431 18s 9d paid to milk suppliers must have been a ■ great boon to the district, and, in* conjunction with the higher prices lately ruling for grain, muat allow a number of the farmers to look with satisfaction on the past year. Owing to the expenses in connection with the Supreme Court case, your directors regret they cannot recommend a dividend this year. By effluxion of time Messrs J. Peter, G. Sopp and D. M'Lean retire from the directorate, but, of course, are all three eligible for re-election. It was resolved that all suppliers of milk to the factory muat be shareholders. The election of three directors resulted in Messrß J. Peter, G. Sopp and D. M'Lean being returned unopposed. Messrs J. Roes and W. Dv Moulin were re-elected auditors. After some desultory talk a vote of thanks was accorded to the chairman. At a meeting of directors held shortly afterwards, Mr D. M'Lean was elected chairman for the ensuing year.
