ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

About a quarter-past, bix o'clook laet evening Mr P. Bryenton, batcher, met with a serioui accident in Yiotoria Street, near the bridge, through his horse stumbling. The horse fell heavily on to the road, and Mr Bryenton being unable to extricate himself, was thrown with considerable force on the hard metal. He was picked up in an unconscious etate and taken into Drlrving'a residence. It waa fonnd that he had sustained serious injuries, and Dr Irving ordered him to be removed to the hospital. He now lies in a precarious condition, having sustained concussion of the brain and a fracture of the base of the ekull. On Tuesday night a child named Edith Clarke died suddenly at its parents' house, •St Albans. The ohild was apparently in .good health when it was put to bed early in the evening. An inquest will be held at the Caledonian Hotel at 9 a.m. to-day. Yesterday afternoon a young man named John Meek fell over a cliff on the Sumner Eoad, and sustained a bad scalp wound aud bruises on hiß body. On Tuesday afternoon, at Bangiora, Mr Bobert Wallace, of Leithfield, when stand- J ing on the footpath in High Street, was -.kicked on the right hip by a stallion, which was being led past him.
