Patents.— Notice appears in the Gazette" of the acceptance of complete specifications in respect of an invention for an aerial direotory and trade advertiser by George Turner, artist, of Sydenham. Pro* visional specifications have been accepted from : — J. Greenslade, engineer, of Christchurch, improvements in totalling and counting machines ; G. T . Booth, engineer, and H. Greig, implement salesman, of Sydenham, improvements in and relating to drain ploughs; E. B. Walworth, engineer, of Tai Tapu, improvements in governor valves for steam engines.

London Missionary Sociktt. — The annual meeting of the Canterbury auxiliary branch of the London Missionary Society was held in the Trinity Congregational Church yesterday. There was a large attendance, and Mr A. W. Beaven occupied the ohair. The annual report showed that the branch had collected over £100 in aid of the Society during the past year. The Ker J. Parker and Mrs Parker delivered addresses on missionary work in China and Mongolia, and the Rev S. J. Baker spoke on the work done by the Sooiety in China and elsewhere. The choir sang several anthems exceedingly well.
