} r+ • The firrt social gathering in oonneotion ' with the Women's Political Association ; wm held last evening in the Oddfelldm* . Chambers, Liohfield Street. A more -spacious hall oonld hare been advan- : tageously need, for there was a crowded attendance. Nothing oonld have bean more succeesful. .The- programme for the ; evening had been admirably arranged* ! The addresses were brief and to the point, ' Bongu, instrumental selections and reci- ; tions were contributed* and the refresht ments— whioh had all been contributed by i members— were excellent. The platform < was occupied by vice-presidents and other , leading members, and the guests included , representatives of the BaUnnoe Liberal , Association and similar institutions. The I aims and objects of the Women's Political ' : Association were dearly set- forth, -the ; work that had been done was briefly «n&> ; lined, and the gratifying faot was Announced that the membership was steadily increasing. Amongst those who -Contributed to the pleasure of the f*» semblage was Mr Faulkner, the blind organist. He played some pianolorte selections with a degree of power .and feeling that many a seeing' player ; might envy, and proved himßelf to be ; almost as maoh at home* with the piftßoi forte as he is with his favourite instrn- | ment. Opportunities were afforded in the | course of the evening for conversation, and 1 when the company dispersed there must have been a general sense of keen satjafiotion, and a general desire that a similar gathering might be arranged for an "early* j date.
