Greater New York, a topographical statistician points out, will cover an area ol 317 Bquare miles; three times the size of London and twelve times that of Paris. Borne, Babylon and Memphis are not to ba mentioned in the comparison. The tooth-billed pigeon is extremely rare and quite unique among the feathered tribes which now inhabit the earth. The lower mandible is deeply cleft into three distinct teeth near its tip. The bird seems to be closely related to the now extinct Dodo, and is remarkable for the faofc that it ia only within the last twenty yeara that it has taken to flying.
