Geometry was the first horse to break the line, but almost immediately Highborn ruahed to the front, and the latter, with Dart and Knebswortb, held a prominent position to the straight, where the favourite, who had been fencing faultlesely, moved up. Daimio bad little difficulty in cutting down the leaders, and stalling off a fast ran by Romsdal/won easily by two lengths, Geometry a length and a half behind the second horse. Highborn, Campaepe and Songster were the only others to finish, the remainder falling, but fortunately none of the jockeys were injured. Baltoro pulled up lame. Time— Bnun lGsec, which is a record for four miles. At a sale of racehorses, Mr Charlton bought Capstan for 396g5, and Mr D. S. Wallace the two-year-old Carbine filly,' Ammunition, for 200gs. Beadonwell was first into the straight, where ho was challenged by Marino, and after the latter had got his head in front at the rails Beadonwell came again, and won by a neck from Marino, with Lord of Misrule a couple of lengths away third, Georgia Sharp fourth, Triton fifth and Miss Madge last. As they ran down the back stretch Victor commenced to close on the leaders, and at the top turn Victor, The Bug and Lascar were all together, In the next hundred yards Lascar was beaten, and The Bug drawing out after the last fence had been negotiated, won by fire lengths from Victor, with Pastime, who came fast in the last half-mile, fifteen lengths away third, Lascar fourth and Cable some distance away fifth. Aa they swept past the stand Despised was just in front of Victim, while Sunspot waß third, Couranto and Barnardo next and Liberator last. Despised was still in front as they passed ; Cutts's, and he showed the way down ' the back stretch five lengths in front of Victim, with Couranto next and Sun- ! spot, Barnardo, Empire and Donald M'Kinnon following in the order named. Before the Kennels was reached Victim wan beaten, and Couranto, joining Despised, the pair Tan round the top turn just clear of Barnardo and Donald M'Kinnon, who in turn were well ahead of the others. Despised and Couranto were first into the straight. The former, however, was immediately beaten, and Donald M'Kinnon taking command at the distance, went on and won easily by five lengths from Barnardo, who was three lengths in front of Couranto, with Despised fourth, Empire fifth, while Victim and Sunspot walked in. This left Boscius jußt clear of Marechal Neil, while Chrystal, who . had been remounted, was a quarter of a mile away. Roecius continued to show the way down the back stretch, and drawing out in the straight won in a canter by ten lengths from Marechal Neil, with Chrystal a quarter of a mile away third.
