The biisfiA Hoube.-tA very snccesaful popular concert was given at the Opera House last evening by the Alhambra Gaiety. Company, This evening the members, of the company, ' assisted by local talent, will give an entertainment for the benefit of Miss. Emma Markham, who is anxious to proceed to Sydney to join a company there. An excellent programme has been' ( piovided, and as the lady .has proved herself, during her Btay here, to be a capable song and dance artist, ifc is hoped there will be a large attendance,

. Vabirt* .'ENTBaTAiNMBNT. — The Eeoreation Hall at the Chriatohurch Working Men's Club was well filled last evening; when the variety troupe ( from H.M.S. Py lades gave an entertainment. ' The programme woe of a Varied character, and appeared to be highly appreciated by the audience. Messrs W. H. Chamberlain and W. A. Thompson played pianoforte selections; Mr A. Beat gave a clog dance; Mesßrs C. D. Thwaitea, W. Gore, P. I)empsey, F. Baddy,' H. Brown, A. Best and W. S. Doddy sang songs and Master H. Davidson gave a recitation.. The accompaniments were played by Mr W. H. Chamberlain. Mr J. E. Davidson, on behalf of the club, heartily thanked the performers. ■-. ■'

Concbbt. — A concert in aid of the Orgafl Fund was given last evening in St Michael's Bohoolroom. There was a large attendance. The programme was a very good one, and was much appreciated by the audience. Miss Vartha, Messrs A. Bowman, Hayfield and Wells opened the concert with an instrumental quartette, and the. second part was also opened with' an instrumental quartette by Messrs A; Bowman, Webley, Hayfield and Wells. Songs were Bung by Misses B. Rowley, H. Wood and A. Lake, and Messrs J. Rowley - and Farranfc. Meßßrs A.andM. Woodward sang a duet. Mr J; Rowley played a flute [ solo and Mr A. Bowman a violin solo. The choir sang a part song, and the concert waa concluded by an air with chorus by Mr A. W. Woodward and the choir.

Bknbfit Concert. — The Oddfellows*' Hall waß crowded to the doors last evening when a concert, under the auspices of the Chriatchurch Operative Bootmakers'. Society, was given in aid of one of its members, Mr P. Keys, who lost one of his handß in a gun accident recently. An excellent programme was submitted, nearly every item of which was encored. Songs were given by Missds Wsston and Spring, little May Brockett, and Messrs. E. Manrice, 0. J. Parrant, A. Sorimgeonr, H. Price, H. Empsoh and J. Poley, an action' song by two young ladies, a bone solo by Mr A. Hutton, selections by the Estudiantina Band, a very clever bicycle aot by Messrs Kingeley and Kerr, and an Irish jig by Mr C. Close. The programme concluded with the farce, Bum 'unsfrotn Borne, in which the characters were taken by local amateurs.
