Asaboa Daibt Factory.— The new factory for Barry's Bay promises to be Tory aacceesf al. Over three hundred cows have been guaranteed, and a large number of shares hare been, taken up. A convenient -site has been procured, and the building will be proceeded with at once.

Band of Hops;— The Belfast Band of Hope Society opened its winter session on Monday evening. There was- a good attendance, the church being well filled. The Eev W. Otigg-, president of the society, ocoupied the chair. ■An excellent pro* gramme was submitted, consisting of songs by Mrs Grigg and Misses Cos and Lindsay, duet by Eev and Mrs Grigg, a trio by the Misses Longman,, a reading by Mrs Beech and recitations by Annie Bart and Gerty Cos.. Miss Border presided at the organ. An interesting address was. given by Mr Ferguson on the objects of: the society. i Akaboa.— Our correspondent writes :— The local braes, band gave a concert on Thursday evening in the Oddfellows' Hall in aid of the band funda. There was a good attendance, and the different items on the programme were well received.— »On Friday evening the Pheeaix , Lodge of Fieemaaona celebrated its anniversary by giving a ball in. the Oddfellows' Hall, whiohwaß tastefully decorated for the occasion. About fifty couples were present, including friends ffom Christchnrch. An excellent supper was provided., Dancing Was kept up until nearly 4 a.m., the affair being one of the .most successful held here. ..... i , Akaboa BoaoyeH Councili. — The usual fortnightly meeting of the Akaroa Borough Council waa held on Wednesday evening; present— the Mayor, and Councillors Henninß, Vangioni, Penn, Munro, Chappell and Watkina. A letter, was read from the Government agreeing to again vest the Akaroa wharves with the Council fora term of fourteen .years.
