An Exciting Struggle.
j [Pxb Fbisb Abbociation.l NEW PLYMOUTH, June 13. A man named William Johnston was arrested last night at Inglewood on the charge of breaking into Maseick's shop, and stealing a silver cruet stand and clock. The matter waß reported to a constable* who searched the accused's house, where the artioleß alleged to have been stolen were fonnd. The constable in arresting Johnston had a Btraggle with him to prevent his escape, when the man bit off the top of the rim of one of the constable's ears. Others then came to the constable's assistance, and Johnston wag at last lodged in the lock-up. The accused was brought to New Plymouth this morning and charged with breaking and enter* mg Masßick's shop. The case was resanded till Monday.
