Spoetino. — In that portion of this week's Canterbury Times devoted to late sporting news will be found a detailed account of the race for the Two Thousand Guineas, Caledonian Society. — There was a large attendance of members of the Canterbury Caledonian Society and their friends at the weekly social meeting of the society, held in its rooms last night. The 1 President of the_ society, Mr P. Campbell, occupied the chair. Songs were euog by Mrs C. J. Marshall, Misses Neave and Watson, and Messrs John M'Lean, Clark, Pnlton and W. M'Lean. A duet wbb eung by Mlbs Miller and Mr Hunter. Messrs P. Johnson and D. M'Pherson gave recitations. Bagpipe mußin was contributed by Pipers M'Tavish and Wade, Mr Chapman played a cornet solo, Master Wade danced a Highland fling, and Master Stewart a sword dance. A short ■ programme of dances was gone through by the members and their lady friends, and "Auld Lang Syne" closed a very pleasant meeting'.
