Concerts.
! A concert, which had been postponed from a previous date, took place at the M.'K«Dzie township, Cheviot, on Thursday. The school children held their treat on the Bame day. The room was crowded for the concert m the evening, and the various items were highly, appreciated. Those taking part were Mesdames Dal ton, Patterson, Stewart and Young, Mieees Boyce, Frazer- and Hoi ton, Messrs Davidson, Evans, Glen, Hillyer, Holton, Penberthy, Tophatn and Young. Mr J. S. Young gave an amusing stnmp speech, after which a dance was held.
[ A very Buoceaeful concert in aid of the i funds of the Church, of England waa held in the Public Hall, Leithfield, on Friday evening. The Eev H. East presided, a lengthy programme was gone through and most of the items were encored. The following ladies and gentlemen contributed eongs :— Misses Smellie (2), Lester, Stace, Johnston, Franks, Neale, Oppenheim, Barclay, and Messrß Pickering, Eickman, Thompson and Oppenheim (2). A humourous reading waa given by Mr Banks, and Mieses Hawley, Boyce and Wheeler played pianoforte solos. The room was then cleared for dancing, which was kept up to the small hours.
A concert will be given on Thursday evening, at St Michael's Schoolroom, in aid of the St Michael's organ fund. Mr Bowman will con tribute a violin .solo,, which will be accompanied by Miss Varths. Mr Eowley will play a flute solo, and Mrs Eowley and Mr Farrant will sing A feature of the concert will be a string quartette of Haydn, by Messrß Wells, Hayfield, Bowman and Webley. The concert is under the direction of Mr H Wolla, and promises to be a great success
