Deputations to the Premier

THE INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.

On Saturday evening a deputation from the committee of the proposed Industrial Exhibition, consisting of Messrs H. B. Kirk, J. L. Scott, Robert Allan and J. A. Froßtick, who were accompanied by Messrs: J, Joyce, G. W. Russell and W. W. Collins, membera of the House of Representatives, waited upon the Premier, and asked for a grant from the Governmont, to the extent of JBIOOO, towards the exhibition. The deputation laid stress on the growing interest evinced by the public in local manufactures, and the good done by exhibitions, and further reminded the I Premier that many thousands had been spent on exhibitions by the Government, both in Wellington and Dunedin, and so far not a penny in Canterbury. Mr Seddos at once expressed his personal sympathy with the Bcbeme, and requested that*, formal application, with full particulars, should be sent to him, when he would undertake to bring the question before the Cabinet.
