Alleged Hobse • stealing. — Thomas Kennedy, fifteen years of age, wag charged with having, on June 2, at Kaiapoi Island, Btolen a dark brown draught mare, value iSIB, the property of Thomas Bnrgesa. Chief-detective Henderson conducted the prosecution. The evidence showed that the m&re had been misEsd from prosecutor's place on Sunday morning, June 2, and that accused had been been tiding it on the road to Christchuich the same day. On Monday morning the mare was found in a paddock at White's Bridge belonging to Mr Smith, ana was taken to the Kaiapoi pound. The accused was arrested on Monday, June 3, and said that he had taken the mare from Mr Burgess's paddock shortly after eleven o'clock on Saturday night, and had taken a saddle and bridle from Mr BurgeS3's Btable. Accused was committed for trial at the next session of the Supreme Court. Labcent of a Saddle and Bbidle.— Thomas Kennedy was further charged with having Btolen, on June 2, a saddle and bridle, value £2 ss, the property of Thomas Burgees. The accused pleaded guilty. Tne Bench decided to remand accused till Wednesday morning for the probation officer's report.
