Benefit Entertainment.
Tha members of the Christchurch Operative Bootmakers' Society have arranged to give a benefit entertainment to one of their members, Mr F. Key, who lately received injur ios from a gun accident, whioh resulted in the loss of one .of his hands. As a result of this, he is no longer able to follow his trade, and an endeavour is td be made to raise a sufficient sum of money to start him in bueiness in a small way. The entertainment will take place in the Odd-, fellows' Hall, Lichfield Street, on Thursday next, and a very good programme h&»[ been arranged, including vocal and inatru-j mental items by Misses Weston, Spring and Brookett, and Messrs E. Maurice, J. Foley, C. J. Farrant, E. G. Lovell, H.. Piice, A. Hutton, H. Empson, A. Scrim" geour and C. Close, and the Estudiantina Band, aa well as action aonga by children. The programme will conolade with the farce Rum'uns from Rome.
