"MAT AND DECEMBER."
The other day, at the trial of a d_voroa case, the parties to which were a nobleman 1 of advanced yearß and hia young wife, the judge remarked that this was another instance of the evil effects of " marriages contracted between May and December." Shortly afterwards the learned Jndga, received a letter from the secretary ot a. Scotoh statistical society, intimating that that body would be obliged if he would favour them with an account of the facta from wbich he derived the singular role enunciated by him as to- the infelicity of marriages solemnized daring certain, months of ths year, and adding tbat some of the members wished to utilise the information which might thuß __ afforded them in the shape of a paper .tobe read before the society, with a view" to pnblic dieousaion.
