During the past year the total amount collected by the tax on cyoles in France waa 1,601,880-r, or .£60,073 4s, This represents an impost on 149,080 maohines, a Bum of lOfr each being collected on 147,977 machines, and 20fr each upon 1103 maohines undeclared. In 1893. the total tax amounted to .831,270, levied upon 132,276 cyoles, so that with aa addition of only 16,804 machines, the total amount collected waa nearly double in 1894.
