The Bon Marohe" in Paris employs 100 detectives. A few miles from the port of Batavia, in Java, the extraordinary sight of a ship in a forest may be witnessed. The ship is actually two miles from ita native element. It belonged to a well-known trader in the Southern Seas, and was carried far inland by a huge wave which swept over the country during the fearful eruption of Erakatoa. The vessel waa borne with terrible force right into the heart of the island, and whan the waters receded it was diacovered in a dense jungle. There it has remained ever since, an object of curiosity to visitors. DURYEA'S MAIZENA.
