ELLESMERE TROTTING CLUB.

The inaugural meeting of the Ellesmere Trotting Club was heM no Saturday on the grass track laid out by Mr W. Spring in the paddook recpntly acquired by him as a reoreatiou ground for the district, opposite the Leeston Hotel. The track,, which is nearly one-third of a mile in circumference, had not been used previous to this meeting, and was rather soft and in places rough and slippery, but it improved aa the afternoon woa^t on, and will be a good trotting track.
