Livala have purchased, through Mr Yagg, the world's rights, except for Australia, of Weddon'a lightning butter extractor. Mr Vagg approves of the proposal to aubmit colonial butter and cheese at auction.

Wheat.— The English and Continental markets are inclined to buoyancy, and the American is advancing rapidly. Speculative offers of 28s have been made for Adelaide cargoes ex Glenbank and Dochrya.

Babbitskins have undergone a general decline of about three-farthingß, bat best New Zealand skins are in short supply, and prioes for these, are unchanged. The P. and O. Company's annual report speaks of the Australian export trade as improving, but the homeward traffic is lesß productive. Two more steamers are being built, superior to the Caledonia. Mr Yagg considers that Victoria ought to be able to undersell Swedish aud Danish butter by 2d pe*lb without injury. There is abundant evidence that both countries intend to lessen the output next winter, owing to the fact that the trade does not pay. This will create an opportunity for Australia. He advises the supporters of New South Wales, Victoria and New Zealand to unite to secure stores, with two experts managing sales and transfers in accordance with the state of the market. He estimates the loss last season, owing to the absence of direct control, at £100,000. Mr Vagg thinks it impossible that salesmen would rebel against such a scheme, as the trade is now too firmly founded to be at their mercy.

The South Australian Register, dealing with the advance in wheat, says that numerous factors, apart from the capricious influence of crop reports, are combining to bring about a batter tone, and are generally suggestive of a rise something more than a paseiug fluctuation of a sensitive market.
