CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, Mat 31. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.)
Interpleader Summons. — Antony Coory v. Faluni Shaib, Frank' Dunn claimant. Mr Stringer appeared for the claimant and Mr Russell for the execution creditor. In this case the execution creditor had obtained a judgment against Shaib for JBI4 Is lOd for goods supplied. Since the judgment Shaib had been selling goods on commission for the claimant, and the execution creditor seized them. After hearing lengthy evidence, Mr Bishop gave judgment for the claimant, and ordered the goods, which were produced in Conrt, to be delivered to him. Coats amounting to £4 14a were allowed.
Larcent.— Thomas Bowman was charged with having, on May 24, at Tattersall's Hotel, stolen one pair of trousers, one vest, one knife and one pipe, the total value being -£2 13a lOd, the property of William Buckle; also with having, on the same day, Btolen one pair of trousers, one vest, one silk handkerchief, one tie and two ounces of tobacco, valued in all at £3 8b 6d, the property of Edmond Lucena. The accused was convicted at a previous sitting of the Court and remanded for the report of the Probation Officer. The report was not satisfactory, and accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to ran concnrrently. Miscellaneous.— Percy ." M'Clellan was fined 10a and cosbs, 7e, for riding a bicycle on the footpath on the Papanui Road.— Thomas Barron, for allowing two horses to wander at large in Barbadoes Street, was fined 5s and costs, and a similar penalty for allowing two head of cattle to wander at large in Fitzgerald Sbreet, St AlbaDS. — A boy named Charles Probble was convicted and discharged for having thrown stoneß to the danger of a girl named Jane Wright, ab Sb Albans. Maintenance Casks. — Alfred Edward Taylor was charged with having failed to provide his wife, Laura Mary Taylor, with adequate means of maintenance. Mr Bryne appeared for the complainant, and Mr Donnelly for defendant. The complainant stated that blio. came to the colony with her husband in September lash They livpd togathor till March last, when they qu'irrolled, an<? witness left her husband io. consequence of th« way ho illtreated her. Ah present witness was living apart from her husband, and had no means of subsistence. Defendant, who denied the charges made Hgainst him, was ordared to Day £1 a week towards the support of his wife, and find one surety of jbso;
