Ammunition fob Volunteers.— As tho rifle covp3 oi Chriatchurch have tor some I time had a number of Martini-Henry rifles, I they applied to the Defence Department | for a proporfion ot ammunition for these weapona to be included in the anuual grant. This would be very much to the , advantage oi the corps, aa tho Martinis '• aro uood in many of the rifle matches, and it would cortninly ba desirable for the men to have every facility for epeedily acquiring r thorough knowledge of the ueo or the ■weaiiona with which they will be armed. 1 Tho application was, however, refused.
