ATTITUDE OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT. [Spkoial to Pbess Association.] LONDON, Mat 29. Sir W. V. Harccmrt has expressed Iris Jconcurronce with the views contained in the memorial drawn up by merchants, bankers and others praying for adherence to the single gold standard. He Bays that the Government will give no countenance to any change in the fundamental principle of the existing monetary standard.
In replying to tlin bankers' memorial, Sir "W. V. Harcourfc said that any departure from the gold standard would involve national disaster.
