Ballahce Libbbaii Association. — - A meeting under the auspices of this Association has been convened for <ight o'clock to-morrow evening at the Knightetown Library, St Albans.

The Dudley Mehobial. — A public meeting was to have been held at Eangiora last night to consider the proposal to erect a memorial to the Yen Archdeacon Dudley, but owing to the Finallneaa of the attendance it was postponed for a week.

Obdbb of Buffaloes. — The members of the Eoyal Chiistchurch Lodge met; at the Walfcham Hotel last evening to play the Wpltham brethren the final match of euchre. At the call of time the scores fitood— Walthain IS, Christchuroh 11, the junior Lodge thus betnsr the victors;

Belfast.— -On Tuesday lash one of the most successful " socials " ever held in Belfast took place in the Town Hall in aid of the Extension Fund. The hall was tastefully decorated with flagß kindly l«nt from a vessel in port. A substantial surplus was netted, as considerably over a hundred persons were present. The music was provided by Mr Brockett, dancing being kept up until 3.30 a.m. Mr Caldwell made a most efficient M.C. During the evening Bongs were contributed, by Mesdamea Milue, Ellis and Smith, and Messrs Wright and De Lacy. The refreshments; provided by Mr Freeman, were laid in the' new Library annexe.

Sporting. — In the "Canterbury Times" this week the spotting editor deals with the Barmby case (at the Danedin Birthday Meeting) and with some important questions relating to trotting.

The Public Libbabt. — Tbe circulating and reference departments of the Public Library will be dosed on Friday and Saturday, in order to effect the alterations to the interior decided upon at the last meeting of the Board of Governor?.

Extension of Dubham Street. — A road haa been made in continuation of Durham Street north through the property of the late Mr George Gould, on the northern side of the North Belt. The extension is of the full width of the street, and is some eight chains in length.

Missing.— Mr William Rudd, a farmer reoiding on the Mile Road, near the Public Cemetery, reported to the police last evening that his son, Philip Rudd, aged twenty-seven years, had left home in the morning with the intention of bathing at New Brighton, and bb he had not returned home, it was feared that he had met with an accident; Nothing Had been heard of him up to an early hour this morning.

Swine Fbvkb. — An article on " Swine Fever," specially written for the " Canterbury Times," appears in the current number of that popular weekly. The importance of the subject should cause the article to be read by every farmer. In England last year upwards of 70,000 pigs died from swine fever, or were destroyed on account of being infected, or having been in contact with the disease.

St John's Litebabt Association.— The usual weekly meeting of St John's Literary Association was held on Monday evening. The President occupied the chair. Papers on the "New Woman" and the " Anti-Chinese Question " were read by Mias Eletig and Mr F. Page respectively, and were freely discussed. A very enjoyable evening was spent.

Kaiafoi Borough Council.— A special meeting of this Council was held on Tuesday evening; present — The Mayor and Councillors Simpson, Drabble, Hopkins and West on. Leave of absence was granted to Councillors Blakeley, Bugg and Donbleday. The balance-sheet for the year was presented and adopted, subject >to andit, and fifty copies were ordered to be printed.

Ecnbrai..— Yesterday the remains of Mr J.. H. Walker were interred at the Linwood Cemetery. The various societies of which the deceased was a member, consisting of tht Orangemen, Protestant Alliance and Manchester Unity of Oddfellows took part in the procession. At the cemetery they were joined by a .number of lady members of the Orange Institution. Bro the Key J. Hoßking conducted the barial service. The Orange eervice was read by Bro T. G. Dyson, S*G., Chaplain to the Orange Institution.
