Applications foe Relief.— Yesterday his Worship the Mayor was absolutely besieged by applicants for relief, either in the form of coal or of bags of meal or flour. He issued some thirty-five orders, and, from want of time, had to request many of the applicants to call again. Inspector Pend*r.— Mr Inspector Pender left Christchurch by the 4 p.m. train yesterday for Lyttelton in order to take passage by the s.s. Doric for London.
