Madame Amelot, a lady who devoted an immense fortune to the relief of the poor in Paris, killed her confessor, Abbe Broglie, a brother of the Due de Broglie, under the delusion that he persecuted her. The murder by Madame Amelot has created a tremendous sensation in Paris. She is suffering from religious monomania, and declares that the abbe divulged Becrets of the confessional. \
