Hunting. -r .On Saturday the Chriatohurch houtfdß met at Mr Overton's. The weather was delightful from a hunting «s well as from a spectator's point of view. It in not surprising, therefore, that the attendance was extremely large. Shortly aftar 2.80 p.m. the hounds were thrown off in a stubble paddock &t the bick of the house. A hare was immediately found, and after a run over Borne grand country towards Islington, was killed just beyond the old Waimakariri river-bed. The hounds were then taken back to Mr Overtone, where, after a short rest, they again found. A particularly fast run ensued, and only because erenin? was approaching were the hounds whipped off.— The meet of the Brackenfield hound 3 on Saturday was at Mr E. Mulcock's farm, Flaxf on. The field numbered about forty, and the day's sport was one of fcbe best the pack has afforded this season. There were four runs, each j laßticg about half an hour, and kills re- | suited in three of them. Many of the I fences were Btiff ones, with a good deal of wire, and a few Bad tiles were emptied, but no injuries were sustained.
