The GotraiiAx and Stokes CosiPAirr.— This company will open at the Theatre Royal for one week on Monday next. The principal artists, Miss Amy Gourlay and Mr William Gourlay, are the youngest children of the late Mr William Gourlay, the celebrated Scotch actor, who played in this town some twenty years ago, while their brother, Mr John Gourlay, was her© eighteen months ago with SkippsM by, the Light of the Moon. Mr Leonard Preston, an actor from London, is included in the company. Revels, That Awful Owl and Turn Him Out are the piecea to be played here, all of which are described as comedy - burlesques of the_ light and sparkling order, intro* ducing several specialities in the way of skirt danoiagv coster songB > &c. Baring their Btay in Wellington the company played at Government House before- his Excellency the Governor and a large party.

Atteiimbd Bweglajbt. — On Friday evening last an unsuccessful attempt waß made to enter the premißeß of Messrs H. J. Hopkins and Bf. Robertß, at Papanui. Tha would-be thieves tried to force open the side-door o? the store with a cold-chisel, and, failing in their efforts, tried to break into tha barber's shop next door, where they broke a pane of glas3 in one of the doora. They also nttompted to open the sido«door by roeana of a key of their own* Their efforts were, however, futile.
