The stewards of the Auckland Trotting Club held a meeting last night to consider a letter sent in by Mr George M'Bride, oomplaming-of the conduct of the starter in regard to his horses at Saturday's races. The letter reauhed the Secretary yesterday morning. The substance of it was, that in the Eaater Handicap, M' Bride's horse, Duke C, was oa the 36seo mark, 16seo behind the limit horse, but was not permitted to start till 25«e0 behind the limit hora«, and that ia the Harness Trot the limit hone was at 48jeo, but Three Cheers, the scratoh horse,' was started S6seo after the limit horae. Mr A. 3. Harris presided at the meeting. Mr M'Bride's letter was read, and he was asked to substantiate his charges, which it was agreed should he taken separately. Evidence was then given by Mr M'Bride, Mr S. C. CarltoD, the starter, and others. Mr ' Abbot corroborated 'MrCarlton's statement as to time recorded on a stop watoh ia the Harness Trot. After some discussion it was resolved that the accusations made by Mr M'Bride against the etarfcer, Mr Carlton, had been entirely disproved, and on account of these statements being so. completely disproved Mr ' M'Bride should be disqualified during the pleasure ol the stewards. As a result of the decision Mr M'Bride's horses did not run to-day.
