TIMARU.
Last week was the quietest experienced in the port of Timaru for a long tim*, .there being very few arrivals or departures. On Saturday, the Union steamers Omapere and Poherua called, from Dunedin and Oamaru. The former landed 100 tons of merchandise, and took away 300 tons of produce for Wellington and the West Coast, leaving for Akaroa in the evening. The Poherua took in 2QO tons of produce for Auckland, and left for that port direct late at night.
