In connection with the recent agitation in Christchurch respecting the management of the hospital, the Cabinet to-day, in compliance with a request from, several associations in Christchurch, appointed Dr Giles as Royal Commissioner to make a searching inquiry into the management of the hospital.

Dr Giles, formerly Resident Magistrate at Auckland, has been appointed by the Government sole commissioner to inquire into affairs at the Christchuroh Hospital. £
