ANNUAL MEETING. [Per Pbbss Association.] TRENTHAM, Maech 19. [U Tho weather is again fine for shooting i there being a light breeze from the left, l * with a dull light, and afc the 500 yards of the Wellington match the firing is an in> [, # provement on previous days. The shooting was particularly watm at ,_ 500 yds this morning, and it is rather un- " fortunate for the Association that it should Q have initiated prizes for poa&iblea at a lB meeting when the funds aro at a lower ebb d than in the h : story of the institution, its Q already nine possible s have been registered, for which £2 each baa to be paid. At thia ranga four possibles were pnt on, namely, Sergeant Wakelin (Chriete church), Corporal Simpson (Kaiopoi), 3 J. Buruß (Karori), and W. B. Scott (Christ- , church) ; whilo Serg*<uit Mooseman (WanRanui), Greenwood (Upper Hutt), Captain Smith (Dunedin), and Tolunteer M'Kay (Chrietchurch) were within one cf the major ecoro. Kirk, the leader for the belf, made 33, and holds the pride of position, while W. and A. Ballinger, with 32 and 33 respectively, hold their positions in the aggregates. VVinslade, too, though dropping back a couple of points, ib still ' fourth, and there is very little change in the other positions. As the men retired to tho 600ydB the leading agge^ates were :— Kirk 360 W. Bfillinger 356 A. Ihe overdraft of the .Association is JSI3O, and the assistance offered by Oam aru is £150. At 700yda there were again good results. Wakslin, fibiehing with 30, wouud up with the excellent score of 99 out of a possible 105. Ib waa fortunate for Wakelin that a shot which he placed on the wrong target > WB3 one of his eighters, the. first ; of j which was a bull, and.the second an inner. Smith (Dunedin) was 95 with a shot to . go, and great interest was taken ' as to whether he could pass the redoubtable Canterbury crack. Ib was not to be, as he had a cartridge which turned out to be a whistler, but ho proved a' worthy runter-up to the chief prize- j taker. Doughty, who came back from the 600yda with 64, got on 30, and finished a : good third, Bannerman, of Southland, 93.
