ATTCHLAND,JAN..22i The Eoman Catholic Bishops of WeMington and Dunedin made application to-day l to the Board of Education to authoriaethe inspection of Eoman Catholic schools- in the Auckland district under their respective management. The Chairman said 1 a similar application had been made a year ago and declined. After discussion the Board decided to deter consideration of the matter for a fortnight, the chief inspector to ba present at the meeting and confer with the Board. , • At the meeting of the Board of Education an estimate of the income and , expenditure for 1895 was read.; Under the , heading income, statutory capitation and rent is put down at £78,750, less income from reserves .£1700; capitation grant for scholarships, £1575; grant for school buildings, £8000; grant xn aid of inspection, £650; local contribution, .£SO; 'income from reserves, £1700; total, ;589,025/' The expenditure ifl put down at £58,84,5. It was agreed to forward the accounts to the Government.
