J I Pending the revision of the railway i rateß, the Government bas decided to ' encourage the fruit industry by the esta- j blisbment of a uniform rate of carriage, irrespective of distance. A rate of six--; pence has been fixed for parcels up to 561 b, I and of one shilling up to lcwtfor carriage j to centres of native fruit, with the proviso that empties are to be returned "free of j charge.
