I THE success that attended the Three Competitions already held has induced the Proprie- ■ tors of the " Canterbury Times" to institute a FOURTH COMPETITION, i Which will be decided on different lines to those of ; previous competitions, the system of awards by the ■ vote of our readers having proved unsatisfactory to the writers of stones. The sum of Ten Shillings wDI be given for each accepted story, and, in addition, the stories placed first, second and third will - receive respectively ! • THIRTY SHILLINGS : One Pound, aud Ten Shillings. Thus every story published will be paid for. CONDITIONS. The MSS., which must be written in BLACK INK, on one side of the paper only, must be sent, addressed to the Editor, and endorsed "Prize Story Competition," and must reach this office on or before JUNE 2 NEXT. The scenes of the stories may be laid in any part of the world. No story should exceed in length FOUR COLUMNS of the " Canterbury Timeß." The real name and address of the Author or Authoress must be sent, and the names and addresses of the three prize-winners will be published immediately they are received from the committee. JUDGING. The stories will pass through the hands of two committees. The first committee will read the MSS. received, and select twelve stories; the second will judge these stories and select the three prize-winners, the basis of award being originality of plot and general construction, and the maximum amount of points 300. Immediately the twelve stories have been selected their 1 itles and the order in wliich they will appear will be published in the " Canterbury Times."
