Riccarton Training Notes.
Thuesdat. Tbe early hours of the morning were beautifully fine and mild, and as the training tracks are now in capital order some interesting work was accomplished. Au Revoir again worked early, and galloped the Great Autumn Handicap distance fast, moving well. Retina strode once round at a strong pace, Teredina once round steadily, and Watchword finished fast at the end of a similar distance at a rather slower rate of speed. Black Cloud and King Wai each worked steadily, and Golden Fleece brußhed over six furlongs, while Lord Aston galloped once round at threequarter pace. Nixie made her appearance after a slight mishap with which she met on her journey from the north, and covered one round steadily, and Lady Zetland who, together with the remainder of Hobb&'s team, arrived from Ashburton yesterday, after cantering one round covered another at a steady pace. Saracen, who has developed into a remarkably fine horse, ie, perhaps, a trifle on the big side, bnt after cantering once round, he moved with great freedom over another at threequarter pace. Prime Wasden has evidently improved considerably since he ran in the Dunedin Cup, and he galloped the Great Autumn Handicap distance in his best style. Norton, followed by Wedlock, cantered, and Eulnine, commencing a mile and a half slowly, gradually increased the pace until he finished fast. Strath Braan wa3 restricted to cantering exercise, and Ben Godfrey and Barmby to steady work, but Pom Pom and Blarney were associated in a smart gallop over cix or seven furlongs. Pom Pom carried a heavier weight than his companion, who, however, beat Mr Paul's colt very easily indeed. Abel Tasman trotted and worked steadily, and Token and Clarence, the former with sweaters on, galloped twice round at three-quarter pace. Clarence was pulled off at the top of the straight and Token finished by himself in good style. Beadonwell had the assistance of Britomarte over the last four furlongs of a gallop over the Great Easter Handicap distance at racing pace. Beadonwell moved in fine style and covered the distance in remarkably good time. Dunsandel wa9 sent twice round at three-quarter pace, and Loveshot a similar distance rather slower, but finishing fast. Goosander had to be ridden hard to finieh alongside Wesbmere in a # fast gallop over six furlongs, while Ultimatum covered one round steadily. Vogengang cantered and a number of other horses worked after breakfast.
