In many cases fields and hop gardens were either washed in holes or covered with silt. Many narrow escapes are reported, but no lives were loßt. Public bodies will be taxed to the utmost to repair damage to roads and bridges, and individual losaes are considerable. A comparatively new bridge on the Buller Road at Granity Creek was completely carried away. A proposal to establish a School of Music has been supported so generally that the Committee resolved to-night to order orchestral instruments by the outgoing mail. _____^_ —
