The Court upheld the order to examine the directors of the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Notice of appeal has been given. Justice Sir Koland Williams, m delivering judgment in the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile case, said that he was decidedly of opinion that aprirndfacie case of fraud had been ma3e out against Mr Thomas Russell, and he was surprised that the directors were unwilling to take the opportunity to clear themselves. His Honor also said that the report of the liquidators revealed a state of things demanding rigid examination. BANGKOK, Maech 20. France and Sianr The mandarin Pharayo has been acquitted of the murder of Inspector Grosgrun, the massacre of whose party was the ostensible cause of the quarrel between France and Siam. Mr Gladstone— An Invitation to Australia. The Newcastle Town Council has agreed to urge the municipalities of the colony to ask Government to invite Mr Gladstone to visit Australia.
