Tuam Street Theatre.

» Jajist up to date. The Lyons Operatic Burlesque Company has no re&son to complain of the patronage beßtowed upon it by the Christchurch public, as another good house "assembled last evening to witness the performance of t the burlesque Faust Up to Mate. Although' it may be considered some -what" -"presumptuous on the part of Mr Lyons to put on such a piece with lus small ooinpany. and without the ecenio effects and chorus which are looked upon as the necessary accompaniment, it ia but fair to Say .that the performance was not byany-meahs^ft bad one. - The introduced songs and dances were, all well rendered, ana many o! theitems were encored. . Mr Percy Clifton" scored"* success in his saturnine impersonation, and his singing of "FShall Have 'Em," with topical verses, brought down the house, while in his introduced coster songs he fully justified the reputation which he brings with him. As Faust, Miss Jessie Leon Bang end acted very nicely. Miss Addie Tower 3 made the most of Marguerite. Her singing of "The Jewel Song" wa3 extremely good, and her rendering of the descriptive song, " That is Love/ won a doable encore. Miss A. Lyons took the somewhat thankless part of Martha in a manner which showed that she is capable of greater things; while Misa Violet "Bertram made a very good Elaa, her fine voice being heard to advantage in the song " 'Twas Ever So," which was redemanded. Mr C. Brown made a sufficiently funny Valentine, and the other characters were well filled. Miss Blanche Young gave a graceful exhibition of skirt dancing, going through some difficult movements- The dresses were pretty, and the limelight effects good. Faust Up to Date will be repeated tonight, and the season will close to-morrow evening.
