The watchman of tbe lighter turned up to-day, and stated that he had been ill and went up to town, and tbo lighter was out - adrift during his absence. The steamer Tarrawonga, from London, picked up three natives, in the last stage of starvation, 150 miles south-east cf Sierra Leone. They had been blown off the African coast with four othei s, who died of starvation. SUPPBEBSING GAMBLING. SYDNET, Jan. 29. _ Alexander, a promoter of gala consultations, has been sentenced to three months' imprisonment for conducting a sweep on the Anniversary Handicap. Notice of appeal was given.
